[UPDATE] Reset; A Beautiful Game with a (possibly) Troubled Future

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

Indiegogo is home to a lot of interesting games seeking support. Tonight I'd like to turn your attention to one game in particular. Reset, a game from Finnish developer Theory has only six days left to meet it's goal. It's a beautiful looking game with a very interesting premise. It's got a ways to go before it meets it's goal, but with a kick of support, it could still make it through.

Reset is described as a Sci-Fi Noir mystery and puzzle game. The graphics are beautiful, but really play second fiddle to the primary puzzle mechanic. Reset is a cooperative experience with only one player. By anchoring yourself to a point in time and space, you can work with your past self to complete puzzles. I'm sure it still doesn't make any sense. Watch this video and I hope it will begin to make more sense.

Did I mention that Reset includes support for the Oculus Rift?

You play as a robot on a "not too distant future" Earth. The atmosphere looks heavy and the moody bent, brings Blade Runner and (therefore) Philip K. Dick to mind. We still know very little about the overall story, other than it being a Noir mystery.

Reset needs support if it's to see the light of day. Crowdfunding through sites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter are wonderful ways to support the games you want to see made. If Reset is half the game it appears to be, it would be a damn shame if Theory wasn't able to complete development on it.

Reset can still pull through and you can help make it happen. If you're a fan of Portal and/or Braid, I recommend taking a close look at Reset. I think you'll find something worth supporting. You can find Reset and contribute to it's Indiegogo fund here.

[UPDATE]: Reset has been successfully funded. Yay!
